About

David is currently development manager at Finsbury Food Group.

After graduating with a degree in Food Product Design with Management, David worked in a number of hands on development roles, with products including Chilled Ready Meals, Scotch Beef, Celebration Cakes, Tea, Coffee and Bakery. David then moved on to marketing roles, managing brands, product ranges and project teams.

After running his own high profile horticulture business for a few years, Clyde Valley Tomatoes, David returned to University to study a MSc in Gastronomy. This unique course, let David step back from the day-to-day, and reflect on global food systems, plus the importance of food as part of individuals identity. Perhaps most importantly, David also developed the ‘masters mindset’ of how to critically analyse and research.

Returning to the FMCG market, with household brand, Baxters Food Group, David then boosted his knowledge of managing product categories and pricing strategies before moving in to a consulting role with Levercliff Category Consultants. There, he worked closely with partners including Scotland Food & Drink and Bord Bia.

David joined the global success story, Ooni Pizza Ovens, during lockdown – leading the development of their Grocery range in the UK and US markets. This included both direct to consumer and retail launches. After a slowdown post-covid, David joined Finsbury Food Group where he is now Development Controller, managing a team of 12, and over 300 projects.
